Garage Band is opaque about what it downloads. Interestingly, most other people have said they have 2-3 GB of Garage Band files, so presumably they downloaded files differently. I did, at one point, download some files – presumably loops – from Garage Band, but it never told me how much was being downloaded, and never showed a progress bar. When looking at macOS Sierra’s new Storage dialog, I found that Garage Band was taking up more than 12 GB on my Mac. ![]() In addition, depending on what you’ve downloaded for the app, Garage Band may take up a lot of space on your Mac. But you may not use Garage Band, and you may want to free up some of the space it uses. You can make music easily, recording instruments, adding loops, and mixing and editing them. ![]()
